Production Assistant- Peacemarsh

 

 

GENERAL NOTE ABOUT JOB DESCRIPTIONS at NYR

The purpose of a job description is to make sure that both the individual and the company are clear about the role, responsibilities and tasks the post-holder is expected to carry out and how the post-holder contributes to the aims and objectives of Neal’s Yard Remedies.  However, we operate in a rapidly changing and highly competitive environment, so it is important that job descriptions are flexible, to enable the company to respond quickly to changes and to accommodate the development of the individual.  Job descriptions will be reviewed at least once a year as part of the appraisal process.  In addition, they will be reviewed prior to recruiting.  Job descriptions will be supported by objectives that are specific to the individual and set out the targets, goals and improvements to be achieved in a set time period.

 

CONTEXT

The role of Production Assistant reports to the Packing Supervisor and is a member of the Production Packing and Gifts Department. The post holder works as part of a team tasked with the packing of Neal’s Yard Remedies product into bottles, jars or gift boxes.

 

OVERALL JOB PURPOSE

The role of Production Assistant forms part of a team of staff who work within the Packing and Gift department at Peacemarsh.

 

Peacemarsh is the company headquarters for Neal’s Yard Remedies and contains the Sales, Production and Distribution operations as well as the functions of Finance, HR and Customer Services.

 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Working as part of the Packing/Gift Production teams.
  • To work in accordance to GMP (Good Manufacturing Guidelines).
  • Liaising with the Supervisor and Production Admin Dept to determine the next production requirement.
  • Accessing production work orders from the SAGE MRP system.
  • Communicating material requirements to the Warehouse Assistant.
  • Checking materials supplied by the Warehouse Assistant against list issued within the Works Order.
  • Ensuring all supplied materials are QC passed for use.
  • Communicating any material supply discrepancies with the Warehouse Assistant.
  • Communicating any material quality issues to the Quality Department.
  • Ensuring line production equipment is clean and fit for use.
  • Work effectively and efficiently in order to meet production schedules.
  • To make product and process quality checks and take samples as required and record readings accordingly.
  • To make adjustments to machinery and processes in order to produce product within specification.
  • To ensure that all products produced and/or assembled are within specification.
  • To read, understand and work according to procedures documented within the NYR Quality and Production Manual.
  • To complete production schedules and record data on the Production QC Record Sheets and the SAGE mrp system.
  • Ensure work area is kept clean and clear of debris.
  • To use the waste and recycling containers and systems as intended and minimize waste generation.
  • Rework returned or defect product accordingly.

 

 

 

  • Clear production area and equipment of surplus components and return unused materials and components to the Warehouse Assistant after the production run.
  • Clean production line and equipment according to the documented procedure and record action taken.

Health & Safety

·         To take reasonable care for your own health and safety and of other people affected by your actions.

·         To comply with NYR’s Health and Safety procedures e.g. first aid, fire, COSHH, manual handling, access equipment, etc.

·         To wear Personal Protective Equipment as required and instructed.

·         To keep work area clear of obstructions and hazards.

·         To clean up any spillages which pose a potential hazard.

·         To

·         To report health and safety risks and hazards to your manager, supervisor or local Health & Safety Representative.

·         To cooperate with your manager, supervisor or local Health & Safety Representative when risk assessments are being conducted and to implement any changes made as a result of risk assessments.

 

 

SPECIAL CHARACTERISTICS

 

1.       The site operates the following hours: 8.30am to 5.30pm Monday to Thursday and 8.30am to 1pm on Fridays.

Or 12/12.30 to 22.00 Mon to Thurs

 

2.       The post-holder must be prepared to work in a typical production and warehouse environment.
